Kid's Summer Reading
Spend the summer with us at Louttit Library with activities and reading challenges for all ages! 
Programs:
For Younger Children: No registration required
Outdoor Storytime: Begins Monday, June 29 @10:30am.
Join Ms. Kathryn on Mondays at 10:30am under the pavilion for stories, songs, and bubble dancing! Recommended for ages 2-6, families welcome.
Rock-A-Baby: Wednesday, July 29 @10:30am.
Join the puppets Rhythm, Melody, Harmony, and the rest of the Rock-a-Baby crew for an interactive musical event perfect for babies, toddlers, and young children!
Fiddle N' Fun: Monday, August 3 @10:30am.
Fiddle 'N' Fun is an interactive musical event that will have everyone singing and dancing! Recommended for ages 2-6, families welcome!

Walk the trail behind the library and read a story as you go! We’ll change it out monthly.

Quilled Paper Flowers: Tuesday, June 30 @2pm
Create a garden landscape and learn how to make flowers using paper quilling!
Squeegee Sandcastle: Tuesday, July 7 @2pm
Use a squeegee to paint a gradient background for your sandcastle!
Firefly Fingerpainting: Tuesday, July 28 @2pm
Create a jar of fireflies using fingerpainting and then insert a string of fairy lights to make them glow!
Healthy Habits with RI Community Food Bank:

Discover cooking tools and foods unique to 6 continents while filling your food passport.

Explore types of exercise and macronutrients with taste tests and movement.

Meet live animals, explore the seed journey, and create a craft to help plant native habitat in your own community.

Students will explore the four layers of the rainforest and the structural adaptations that help animals survive in each.
Birds are Dinosaurs: Thursday, July 16 @1pm
Meet a live bird ambassador, enjoy hands-on activities, and unearth the incredible story of how modern birds are living dinosaurs!

Magic Show with Russ DeSimone: Wednesday, July 22 @11am
Magician Russ DeSimone is back to delight audiences of all ages. He’ll be assisted by Presto the Rabbit, Flutter the Fish AND the audience!
LED Mini Golf with One-Up Games: Monday, July 27 @3-6pm
Come play 9-hole glow in the dark mini golf at the library!
After-Hours Escape Room: Friday, July 17 @5pm or 6:30pm
Join us for a Mr. Lemoncello's Library themed escape room! Bring a team and complete activities to solve the riddle. Recommended max of four people per team and suggested for ages 8+, families welcome. Note: Reading the book is not required to understand or to participate in the escape room.

Little Readers: For ages 0-6.
Read 10 books, earn prizes and free books along the way, and receive tickets to enter into a prize basket drawing!
Kids: For grades 2-5 (ages 7-12).
Read 600 minutes this summer! Log your reading as you go to earn Spin the Wheel prizes, free books, and to receive tickets to enter into grand prize drawings. Additional tickets can be gained by submitting book reviews and attending library programs!
Teens: For grades 6-12 (ages 13-17).
Read 600 minutes this summer! Log your reading as you go to earn free books, opportunities to pick from our teen treasure chest, and receive tickets to enter into grand prize drawings. Additional tickets can be gained by reading varying genres, submitting book reviews, and attending library programs!
Adults: Ages 18+
Read 600 minutes this summer! Log your reading as you go to earn opportunities to pick from our adult treasure chest and receive tickets to enter into grand prize drawings. Additional tickets can be gained by reading varying genres and submitting book reviews. Participants who complete the challenge will earn a library branded grand prize!
